History

Built in 1954 as the Fox Appliance store, 227 W Dougherty Street was originally a warehouse and showroom for appliances. In 2004 the building was sold and converted into a bar and nightclub. A decade later, Live Wire Sounds, Inc. (The Robertsons) purchased the building and upheld the atmosphere for local and national musicians as a music hall.
February 2015 marked the grand opening as Live Wire Athens. Gradually, Live Wire, and the local community of Athens, increasingly booked Live Wire as an event venue for hire. From the time of the opening, it has become a favorite venue of downtown Athens.
Today Live Wire Athens is a versatile, rustic event venue full of life and culture. By combining Robertson family hospitality, and professional service, you have the perfect place for your custom occasion.
